FREQUENTLY ASKED QUESTIONS

Have a question?  Please see the FAQ section below.  Still have a question?
Where can I park?

Our taproom is located at 58 Voorhis Lane, but we also occupy the building at 55 Voorhis Lane directly across the street.  You are free to park in either lot!  Overflow parking on weekends is available in legal parking spots on our street, as well as along both sides of johnson Avenue.  Parking around back on Burlews Cours is the best kept secret and is only a short walk.  Getting creative is on you, but we appreciate you using only legal parking spaces and being respectful to our neighbors.

Why don't you have more parking?

Let’s face it:  this is North Jersey.  No one has enough parking, not even the mall.  We do our best to accommodate as many guests as possible but things occasionally get tight.  Parking is good along both sides of Johnson Avenue, and you can easily walk between us and Hackensack Brewing down the block.  Makes the best of it!

Do you have food?

We are in an awesome town, so we do frequently have food trucks in the immediate area.  You are also encouraged to bring food with you, or to order in from any one of our area’s fine food establishments–especially if you’re planning on hanging out with us for a few hours.  Production breweries like us aren’t allowed to sell food directly and we know that’s a bummer.  That’s why we encourage our patrons to enjoy our beer responsibly and have a bite to eat by other means.  Ask a bartender about their favorite local spots!

Can I bring a group by and can I get a reservation or will you hold a table?

You are more than welcome to bring a group of any size.  If your group size is greater than 8, our Taproom Manager Chelsea appreciates a call in advance.  We do not take reservations and we can’t hold a table–everything is first-come-first-served.  This also means that you can’t reserve your own table by sending an advance team to stake the place out.  As always, we do our best to accommodate everyone.  If you call ahead we are happy to provide advice about the best times to arrive or other options you have to give you the best shot at getting what you’re looking for.

Are you kid friendly?

Yes!  We are kid friendly.  Note, however, that we are a working production brewery so there are many non-kid-safe elements to the experience visiting us.  Please be mindful 🙂

Are you dog friendly?

We *were* dog friendly everywhere but now (and hopefully temporarily) we are only dog friendly in our outdoor Biergarten.  As the story goes, in Health Department Land, beer is food, thus dogs are not allowed inside.  In NJ Alcoholic Beverage Control Land, we are prohibited from selling food or even coordinating with food providers.  Beer is food, which we can’t sell, but we can sell you beer.  Yeah we don’t get it either.  Call you state legislators and ask them to support S2753/A4264 which should straighten this mess out.

Do you take credit cards?
Yes!  Cash, credit cards, Apple Pay, Google Wallet.  If it represents US currency and you can pay with it, we’ll take it.
Do you give an NJCB discount?
We do!  We’re happy to provide 10% off draft, growler fills and merchandise to NJCB card holders.  Packaged goods such as cans and bottles are not included.
What's on tap / can I get my growler filled / what's in cans?

We’re constantly turning over our stock, so the tap list changes frequently.  The best way to find out what we have available is to either swing by and check the tap list or call ahead.  We don’t typically fill growlers of the things we have cans of.  We take pride in our quality control and all batches are canned and kegged on the same day–our cans are exactly as fresh as the draft you’re drinking!  Things we don’t have cans of are usually fair game.  Check in with a bartender for the latest.

Do you fill Corny Kegs?
Sorry! We do not!
Can I buy a keg from you?
We occasionally have sixtels available for consumer retail. The selection is limited and varies based on our brew schedule. Please call to know what we have on hand.
If you are a liquor store, bar/restaurant, beer purveyor looking to carry The Alementary please call us and we can put you in touch with our sales representative or email [email protected]
Do you sell gift cards?
Yes! We have gift cards available in the tasting room, and you can also purchase and send electronic gift cards very easily at this link (opens in a new tab).
Can I work for you even for free?
The Alementary is a small, close-knit team and we seldom have any vacancies–even for interns or people willing to work for free.  When we do have openings, though, we’ll make a big deal of it so that we can find the right people.  If there’s no listing here on the website, then we don’t have any positions available.
